How to build Pencil2d step by step on Linux (Ubuntu 13.10) – console solution

This building procedure was tested on Lubuntu 13.10, I think it should work on other Ubuntu and Ubuntu-based distros.

  1. Open console
    Run terminal.
  2. Install required packages
    Type the following command:
    sudo apt-get install qt5-default qttools5-dev-tools qtmultimedia5-dev libqt5svg5-dev libqt5xmlpatterns5-dev libpulse-dev
  3. Download source
Download source and change directory to be in main directory of
    downloaded source
  4. Build application from source
    Type the following command:
    qmake
    and then:
    make
  5. Run built application
    cd app
    ./Pencil2D

That’s all

    For Fedora users :
be sure to have qt5-qttools-devel qt5-qtmultimedia-devel instaled

    then in the source directory

    qmake-qt5

    make

If any probleme maybe you should look for missing librarys. I just did a yum search for every paquet to install on ubuntu. They all have different names in fedora.
    Good luck!
See you in the forum if you need 😉
